Finding Solutions to Debt Problems
An Attorney Can Fight to Save Your Home
If you are struggling with the burden of unmanageable debt, bankruptcy may be the right answer for you. Bankruptcy is not the right answer for everyone, but it has helped millions of people, including millions of homeowners, find a new path to a brighter financial future.
If you want to know more about bankruptcy, contact the law offices of attorneys Phillip M. George and Berry A. Foster. Based in Smyrna, Tennessee, we represent clients throughout Middle Tennessee.
Bankruptcy and Foreclosure
By filing for bankruptcy, you may be able to prevent foreclosure and help you save your home
The first question to answer is: What are your priorities? An attorney can help you make the hard decisions and prioritize which property you can keep
We know your home is probably your most valued property. Let us help you find a way to discharge a substantial portion of your debt while keeping what's most important. See our FAQ page on the effect of an automatic stay. If you retain our firm, we can file a petition to stop the foreclosure sale.

Chapter 13 Bankruptcy
At our law offices, we focus on Chapter 13 bankruptcy. Unlike Chapter 7 bankruptcy, in which certain assets may be liquidated (taken and sold), a Chapter 13 bankruptcy is similar to a debt repayment plan.
If retained to handle your case, we would submit a three or five-year debt repayment plan to a bankruptcy court judge. If your plan is approved, you will have additional time to pay your debts and a certain portion of your debts may be discharged entirely.
How Can a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Help?
A Chapter 13 bankruptcy has many advantages. A Chapter 13 bankruptcy may allow you to:
- Avoid a home foreclosure
- Avoid an auto repossession
- Stop creditor harassment
- Stop a wage garnishment
- Pay your bills gradually on a three or five year repayment plan
- Discharge some of your debt load
